6th Young-ISA Meeting

Date: Monday December 1th, 2025
Location: UCC Banking Hall (UCC Centre for Executive Education), University College Cork (UCC)
Time: 9 am - 5 pm GMT
Theme of the event: Statisticians in the World of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

The Young Statisticians’ Section of the Irish Statistical Association (Young-ISA) was formed in 2019 with the objectives of creating and cultivating a network of career-young statisticians across Ireland, supporting their professional development and providing a link to the Irish Statistical Association.

This event is the 6th Young-ISA meeting that will bring together many career-young statisticians in Ireland to focus on Statisticians in the World of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. This event offers early career researchers and PhD students an excellent opportunity to gain insights into advancing their careers in academia. We will host three keynote talks where keynote speakers will share their perspectives on crucial aspects of this journey.

There will also be a series of short research talks delivered by career-young researchers from different Irish universities, as well as a round table discussion with our keynote speakers on the theme of the event, with the opportunity for audience questions.

Networking Activity: A new feature of this year’s event is the dedication of one of its sessions to a structured networking activity, offering participants the opportunity to engage in small-group discussions on key topics within the theme and to build professional connections with peers and experts.

Poster Session: We are delighted to announce that this year we will have an online poster session held on the Young-ISA LinkedIn. To take part in the poster competition please email your poster and abstract to young.istat@gmail.com during the period Monday November 24th to Friday November 28th (deadline 5pm). All posters received during this period will be posted on the Young-ISA LinkedIn account and considered for the poster prize of €100. The winner will be announced at the event on December 1st.
